Smoking has been around since about 1865 where cigarettes were hand rollled and sold to soldiers at the end of the Civil War.It wasn't till the mid 1930's to 1960's that cigarettes were found to be linked to lung cancer and caused a big lung cancer epidemic across the world.Average cigarette consumption was up to a wopping 195.05% and for every 100,000 people, 64 died from a type of cancer most likely caused by smoking.
As smoking became more popular the demand for cigarettes became much higher thus creating the need for more tobacco companies.New companies such as Camel, L&M, Virginia Slims, and Marlboro just to name a few were created in the 1900's in order to meet this demand.
