Career Goals

In my second year of high school, I took a Computer Science class and became fascinated with designing websites and apps. I had always been told that I had a creative side to me that comes out during assignments and projects. It was then that I decided to pursue a career as a web designer. I hope to work at a large company where I design and work on the aesthetic appeal of a website or app.

If this plan does not work out for me, my second career goal is to become a teacher. I love history and English and would like to teach elementary students. The reason this is not my first career is because I also feel intimidated by the fact that I will be responsible for the safety of my students. However, if I do end up taking this path, I will hopefully learn to cope with all the responsibilities and have fun at my job.

College Plans

In order to become a web designer, I have many paths in mind but have not yet determined which one to take. I will be applying to four-year colleges this year, and depending on where I get accepted, I will choose whether or not I will attend. If I decide to go to a four-year college that accepts me, I will do a Computer Science degree there. I plan to do a bachelor's degree, and if time and money permits, I hope to also complete a masters. However, if I do not get into the colleges I want to go to, I will attend a community college for two years and then transfer to a four-year university.

For the educational plan for getting to my second career goal, I plan to attend a community college or a CSU to complete all the credits I need to become an elementary school teacher. I do not plan to go very far in my education to become a teacher and will only complete the minimum amount of education needed. This plan can also happen at any time in the future, unlike my first education plan which will start right after high school.
