Career Goals

My main career goal is to be involved in a STEM career of some sorts. The IT field is also something that interests and compels me to enter in. The specific career I choose is graphic design due to having a skill in creating graphics. Creating graphics is something that I already do for my mother's business and sometimes other small businesses as well. Applying in a company that allows me to create graphics is a possibility I can consider, but being a graphic designer is my first choice career goal.

A second career that I refer to is software engineering. My interest in software engineering comes from being a user of various software and would like to be involved in a team creating them. I have used a lot of software from Adobe. I would like to intern at a software engineering company such as Splunk. Therefore software engineering is my second career choice.

College Plans

My educational plan for being a graphic designer would include enrolling in graphic design classes in college. A local university such as San Jose State University offers graphic design classes and is what I will attend in the future. I will major in web design or industrial design, but graphic design will be my main major. As mentioned before, San Jose State University offers graphic design programs but other colleges across the United States also offer graphic design programs such as Foothill College, Pratt Institute, and the Academy of Art University.

A university I will attend is UC Santa Cruz which offers PhD, Bachelor's degree, and minor in software engineering. I will most likely major in software engineering and would consider majoring in computer science. UC Santa Cruz has programs for software engineering and computer science. Other colleges that offer programs are Iowa State University, University of Texas, and Cogswell College.
