College and Career Plans

Career Goals

I enjoy understanding math and creating things, so studying software engineering might be right for me. What I am looking for is a career that can satisfy me working on a finished product and give me a feeling of accomplishment for the work I have completed.

I plan on taking a two year program at a community college to get general education completed. I can achieve this at De Anza, Mission or Evergreen. I chose these colleges because they are local. During the general education timeframe, I would ideally have an entry-level job to save up money for when I begin taking classes for my major. For my major in computer engineering, I would like to go to San Jose State University, UC Santa Barbara, or even UC irvine. With a major in software engineering, my career choice would be to become a systems software engineer.

College Plans

For my second career goal, I am considering three options. I am still deciding whether my second plan is to become a real estate broker, psychology professor/psychologist, or a financial planner. I believe majoring in either business, psychology or mathematics would be equally profitable. For a business major, Santa Clara University, San Diego, or Irvine College have recommended business programs. For psychology, the University of San Diego, Santa Cruz, or California State University offer well-known psychology programs. Finally, for mathematics, San Diego University and Irvine show promising mathematical programs.

To pay off colleges, I look forward to applying for scholarships and financial aid. But I refuse to let that be my only source of income, so I want to apply for an entry-level job. Preferably, I would like a job in retail since working in food services is not something I find pleasant.
