Career Goals

A Computer software engineer is my dream career. The Internet is expanding, meaning that the demand for software engineers is greater. Their yearly salary is estimated to be about $100,690. Computer software engineers use different programming languages such as: HTML, Javascript, CSS, and more. They can also be application software developers. Using coding and programming, they are also able to create web pages. The work of computer software engineers is fascinating to me due to the fact that they use programming.

Having a second career goal is important in case the first career goal does not work out. It is always a good idea to have a back-up plan for everything. Therefore, my second career goal would be to become a financial manager. Financial managers do financial reporting and are involved in investment activities. They also use cash management strategies to improve the financial growth of an organganization. The estimated average yearly salary of a financial manager is about $134,330. This career is interesting to me because people that work in finance, are able to increase the growth of money for organizations that they work for and/or for themselves, by reporting and managing (investing) the money smartly.

College Plans

Going to a Community College such as Mission College is the smartest thing for me to do because it is affordable. Both of my older sisters went to Mission College and have given me advice on making smart choices for when I begin to apply to colleges. My plan is to go to Mission College to get my general education, since it is much more expensive to go straight to a four-year University right after highschool. After completing my general education, I plan to transfer to UC Berkeley to get a major in computer science. With a major in computer science, I would be able to have the skills to become a computer software engineer. Perhaps while I am there at UC Berkeley, I would consider getting a minor in business management, that way I would have a major in computer science and a minor in business management.

In order to pursue a career in finance, I would have to attend Mission College to finish my general education. I believe it is a smart thing to do because I would be saving money than if I was to go to a four-year university as soon as finishing highschool. Soon after completing my general education, I will transfer to UC Berkeley to get a major in business administration and management. With this major, I would have the proper skillset to pursue a career as a financial manager.
