Homeless or not, they're still people too
Homelessness is not just a myth, it is a very real and serious thing. It can happen to anyone unexpected and possible at anytime. If you became homeless in the next hour, would you feel devastated? If you needed help and would accept any amount of it but no one did, how would you feel? These are some feelings homeless people feel on a daily purpose. Here are some stories from some real people who had first-hand experience of being homeless.
Meet Brian:
After Brian’s mother died, his life changed completely. He started to life with his stepfather,but that didn’t end so well and eventually ended up in a suicide attempt. Luckily, he was sent to the hospital in time. When Brian got discharged into a guesthouse, he was told that a social worker will come and help him. However, a social worker did not come for a few months. Brian had trouble doing the most simplest tasks and had a hard time taking care of himself. The social worker was finally here and is now helping Brian to this day. If not for help from the social worker, he would have ended up homeless and on the streets. Read more...
Meet Claire:
Claire was homeless from the age of 13 due to family issues. She was in and out of prison in the streets of London. As she was living in the streets, she had help from the other homeless people. They were her new family and looked out for each other. One day, she was taken away by St. Mungo's Street Impact Team and was sent to a hostel where they could help Claire return to a normal life. They gave her classes to attend at Recover College. Overall, she is very happy of the decision of how her life has turned out, and does not regret receiving help from people around her. Read more...
